London

Well, the best place I visited on the imaginary field trip funded by Simon was “Kew Gardens”. This is located in south-west of London and has 300 acres of amazing landscapes of temperate woodlands. I could see many kinds of plants, trees and others vegetables species. It was very good experience for me because I love spend my time in places as these, full of green.

On the other hand, was fun since I enjoyed of garden festivals, events and activities because Kew is celebrating the International Year of Biodiversity (2010 has been declared by United Nations)

I hope to go again.. but not just my imagination, if not with my body too =P!!

Play the game..

When I was a child, remember that I went out to play with my friends every afternoon. In front of my house there is a scenery that has U-shaped made up for the houses of my friends. My grandmother lives there too, so we had all that space to play in a safe way.

The games on my childhood weren’t as games currently. I belong to a generation a bit more classic or rather, I lived in a transition time (regarding to technology) I say it because not everyone had playstation nor computer, so the games should be played outside. These could be the typical games or also invented games in the moment, that to be accepted they should meet two requirements: be pretty fun and tiring at the same time.

Well, my neighborhood’s friends and I didn’t repeat the same games at one afternoon, since we had a lot of entertaining games such as: “quemaditas”, “pillarse”, “las naciones”, “tombo” among others. We always rotated them.

At that time, my favourite game was “escondida”. This game is about that someone should count to 10 with eyes closed for that the rest of the players are hide and then goes to find them. If someone can reach the base without getting caught, she/he wins.

We played at least four times a week. I loved play “escondida” because I was very good climbing trees (this was my best hiding place) and I was very fast too, which made me gain followed.

I don’t remember who taught me this game but nowadays, I just know that I couldn’t win as easily as before.

Unknown or Ignored Talent??

Thinking that many of my classmates are going to talk about Violeta Parra, Victor Jara and others.. I will take advantage this opportunity to talk about someone that few know.

The name Oscar Castro often sounds so common and many times goes unnoticed. Well, to who doesn’t know him, he was a great writer and poet. His style is defined as realist, soaked of melancholic. He had an impeccable metric and a great mastery on the composition of romances.. (I love his romances). He born on March 25, 1910 in Rancagua. He was autodidactic, because he had left the school for health problems.

I knew him through of my mother (she’s a Language Teacher, so obviously she always told me about writers and poets) In fact, when I was on my first year at high school I represented: “romance del hombre nocturno”, I recited and acted at once.

I consider that he is important for Chili, because he doesn’t just contributed to poetry Chilean, if not also in his writings he included part of Chilean history. For this reason, I want more people knows him, and I think this is an opportunity to appreciate the work of a compatriot, we need out of the cliché.

If I could talk to him I wouldn't ask anything, I would say him: teach me to see reality as your and write as your, because even though your work isn't recognized, I appreciate it.

Well, I leave you two romances more his, both are sung by “Los Cuatro de Chile”

Choose some job..

For one moment, I believed that I never had thought it.. but isn’t like that. There are two jobs that I really would like to ever do and both include having to travel (according to me).

I would be painter, because is pleasure make paints for me. I remember that when I was a child I won a scholarship to learn draw techniques in Bellas Artes museum. But, I didn’t like the teacher who taught me, she always told me how I should see things and I didn’t like that, and this is the reason for I left to go and I walked away from painting.. I would like back, I miss the smell to turpentine (although it's so toxic)@.@!!

Also I would like musician. About three weeks ago, I was thinking in a musician’s life, and I was surprised of the good it could be, because is only practicing and enjoyed.

I think that if I were musician besides painter, I could take my guitar along with my brushes and oil paintings and leave Santiago. I could be in anywhere (a place with beach, certainly) I believe that is obvious that it will be entertaining, because I would earn money doing things that nowadays i do on my free time, so it would be almost a dream.. Don’t you think so?

I don’t know anybody that has these two jobs at the same time, but I know a professional musicians and as I said before, they spend half of their time practicing and the other half enjoying.

The best of these jobs is that they need and must to live varied experiences for inspiration.

//: Cat Stevens

To be frank, is very difficult to me choose someone to meet, because I believe that I would like to meet a lot of people, but Simon wants that we talk about just one person, so I’m going to talk about Cat Stevens or Yusuf Islam (now he calls like that).

Well, I know to Cat Stevens through my mother, when I was a child, because she had a CD of him, she often listened its, and to the passage of time I began to like me too.. I consider him someone very interesting for his biography and also because is a good musician.

His real name is Steven Demetre Georgiou, he born in London on 1948, his mother was Swedish and his father was Greek-Chiprian (so you should imagine the eccentric combination between language and culture.. is a real idiosyncratic shock!!) He was musically influenced by folk songs that his Greek father listened it. After a near death experience, around 1978, decided to convert to Islam and it then adopted the name Yusuf Islam.

I really enjoy his music, because he knows the combining styles in a subtle and harmonious way, I see that his songs arise, they are not forced, to the contrary they're very heart.

I would like to know a lot of things about him, I would ask to him: What his inspiration has been? or Who was his muse? Why you stopped doing music for a while? Nowadays, How do you see life? Why you never married? Were you waiting for someone like me? 1313!!! wajajajjajaa..

I ♥ HIM!!! :$

Perfect Day???

In this computer, I couldn't listen to the song of Simon, in my home i will try it..

Well, according to the theme.. my perfect day should be without classes!!! (obviously) and it shouldn’t happen in only one place, because it would be so boring, I would like to spend my beautiful twenty-four hours of a fun way. For obtain it, I need much money and that everybody be available (without their jobs, nor any concern)

I would like begin my day on a waterfall (in Cascada) for I take a bath under it and swim in its lagoon, with all my friends of school. Then, I would like take a plane, where we can have a Mediterranean breakfast and that it leave us at natural monument Morado for make trekking to San Francisco glacier, because here is where my friends of the university will be waiting us.

And finally we again take a plane with destination to the beach (any north-beach) and everyone will have lunch on the plane. When we arrive, a party will be waiting for us. The invited bands will be: Chorizo Salvaje, Banda Conmoción, Chico Trujillo, Villa Cariño, Patricio Cobarde among others.. (they will be responsible for the pachanga)

But, all it’s so unreal.. this is more like to “What would you do with sum X of money in one day?” that.. "A perfect day" and really I believe that in this aspect, I'm not very exigent, I’ll just beg be with my parents and friends, but without any fights between they, without Transantiago nor metro, without obligations.. cause' i'm tired of everything :(!! [this would be a perfect day for me right now]

Orange Blue!

When I read or hear the word “shopping”, I inevitably think in malls, it’s almost an unconscious association. I don’t like the malls and neither I’m a good shopper.

In fact, most of the times I’ve bought things, is because I like to walk around town exploring its nooks.. is there where I find interesting things, but many times I have no money to buy them, and when I have money do not find what I want jajajaja!

But anyway, I’ve a favourite shop, it calls “Orange Blue” and sells second-hand clothes, although I wander for all over Bandera street, as since it is full of such shops. I like go to it because the kinds of clothes are very different and exclusive.

The first time that I went to Orange Blue was with my sister about 6 years ago. She recommended it to me and since that day I loved it. However, I don’t go very often, rather, I go from time to time. I remember that the last thing that I bought was a vest really beautiful, all my taste, (it’s orange, is made of wool.. certainly, you have seen him before, in fact I'm wearing it in the photo with "Wapita") I have many things of that shop..

I believe that I love it, because the clothes are unique as well as size so, you will not find to nobody wearing your same shirt, pants or whatever and also you can create your own style.

What do you think about this kind of clothes? (besides that you must wash it at least three times) =P!

Endieciochamiento!!

I remember that when I was a child we celebrate Fiestas Patrias with all kin in my home. It was a big party, almost as new year, because my mother was worrying about every detail, since food until clothing and the interesting thing for me was just the latest.. What I would wear that day? A beautiful dress, socks with “blondas” and obviously patent leather shoes.. the bad was that I never could choose the dress but that “18” on 1996 I did it, and remember that I gave round and round, cause I loved to see my dress so, since i imagined that was a flower.. jajaja!!

Also that time, I raised a small kite, better known as: “ñecla" and danced “trastrasera” because was the dance that I had been taught at school. My sister taught me to make ornaments, and we competed for doing the longest garland.

Well, about the changes that I have of my view of “Fiestas Patrias” I can tell that when I was child I didn’t know what was it, my parents told me: “It’s birthday of the country, so we have to celebrate!!” Years later I learned meant it, although I had trouble understanding why 18/11/1810 and not 12/02/1818 but now I understood that as the world ends on 2012 we had to hurry.. :P!!

I should accept that this year has been the most I have reflected our independence, because I believe we have regressed in part, globalization, transnationals, permissive public policies as well as legal voids have allowed so.

I looked the picture of my dress and could not find it.. =(!

Villa Cariñ♥ !!!!!!

Hey!
How is everybody!!?
Today i’m going to talk about a concert that i went.. I believe that it was about three or four weeks ago?? Well, the issu is that i went to Victor Jara galpon to listen to Villa Cariño, they had promised sing ALL their hits!!

In this year i have been in a lot of concert, where Villa Cariño has played.. They play cumbia romanza-personal, (before.. they played Andean music) their style is very funny and original for me, and I must confess that I’m madly in love with vocalist!!!

The last time that i saw them, it was the same week that we back to Santiago, then of my hollidays in Viña with my friends (where certainly it was so entertaining!). I remember that i had troubles with my father for go out that occasion.. but later, we could go out to our longed show.. (i say “we” because Estefa would stay in my home this night.. in fact, she convinced me to go out).

We arrived to Galpon at 11pm but, the concert was to begin at 1:00 am.. so, we went to eat potato chips to spend time. Near midnight, we met some Estefa's friends, who were very nice. We talk about everything, and then we back to galpon at about at 1 am.

I really enjoyed it!! Because the group that played before Villa Cariño was so good too.. it called Banda Jibarito.. they had cuban music influences and “pachanga”. For this reason I think that was a whole concert!!

I give you the link of the group so you can listen to some songs from new album..

SURFFF!!

Hi classmates!
How time has passed?!! I think that everybody have forgotten our Blog-password.. jajaja!! but here we go again, write about some theme :)!

Well, there are many things that i would like to do, (such as: travel around the world, jump of a plane, diving, etc.) but the most things demand a big sum money, this is the problem..

Even so, there is one thing that I would like: SURF!! ..because when i always see photos or videos where one surfer glides on a amazing wave, i think that this should be so exciting!! i know.. they are just some seconds, but those seconds (thanks to the relativity theory) in fact are hours..

I believe that the surf should be very difficult, since you need to have a good equilibrium, you must know how to swim, (front to a possible fall) also should dominate techniques to keep you on the table and a lot of courageee!!

In the mallsport there is "The Big Wave".. In this place simulated a wave that has different intensities, as beginners as expert. The class aren't so expensive.. but i would learnt in the sea, because the waves are always differents.. they aren't regulated for a button =P!

I don't know why strange reason but, i believe that i could be a good surfer.. i love the sea so much, and that is very important! Everything else is practice :) (and money for the class and equipment :S!!)
So, i will hope a surf class as gift for my birthday jajajaj!!

Would you like to surf??!
See you!

World.Cup!

.

I watched the game at Estefa’s home. She had class at the university till so late.. and i didn’t have, so i went to my home for collect some clothes and then.. about at 6:30 pm we got together to buy some snacks.

Also we cook things like pizza and Lemon's pie (it was delicious!! obvious.. i make it). Estefa had a projector, so we could see the game as a cinema. We were four official fans of the red: Estefa, Adrián (her brother), Fran and me .. all shouting for the bad performance of the referee.

It was really very exciting, everybody was expectant of what was happening, I enjoyed it very much.

The best player (in my opinion) was Alexis Sanchez, I dont know much about football, but i see that he has an incredible technique to dominate the ball. On the other hand, i believe that the worst player of the match was Mark Gonzalez, because he had many chances to score a goal and he lost them. (I'm aware that he entered the field in the last minutes of the second time, but still think he could have played better).
Overall Chile reached the opposite bow repeatedly, but that wasn't reflected on the scoreboard, as mostly of the team was very anxious.

I don't think that Chile can win the world cup, but we can pass the second round. I believe it's possible to beat Switzerland and Spain ( Whether they are on the court playing Sanchez and Suazo) but when we move to second round we encounter with Brazil (it hard to beat a rival as this).

Free theme!

Every time that someone told me: "talk about a free theme" I choose the music, and clearly this isn't exception:

MUSIC RECOMMENDATION:

The last Wednesday I went to see a band that I love! It called Villa Cariño, they play melodramatic revolutionary cumbia (so they are defined).
I leave you a song! xD

On the other hand, I’ve heard a very good group, they are Brazilian, called Céu. Their music is a mixture of bossanova, hip hop and other influences.

Finally I admit it! I'm in love with Cat Stevens, a great musician and composer. I think that my ideal man is he, but with regard to age, there is a small problem.. he has a few decades more than me.

Geölogy!

Well, the truth is that throughout the career I have liked many subjects, mostly physical as Climatology, Sea Geography, Geomorphology among others.. but the subject that more has attracted my attention was: Geology. I've been in three courses of this, and my teachers have been:

* Dharmo Rojas (Geology)
* José Araya Vergara (Quaternary Geology)
* Ricardo Thiele (General Geology)

I am currently studying: Field Geology I, given by physical and mathematics sciences faculty at our university. The Geology is very interesting for me, because this science provides answers to the behavior of our planet, explaining how it generated the landscape's macroforms.

This semester I learned a lot, because I put theories into practice.. a few weeks ago we went to field trip the entire course to the third region, specifically the Transito's valley. It was there where I learned many things, such as: types of folds and faults, recognition of rocks and fossils among other things.

[it was my area of study: "el cerro torta" ..we climbed it for all sides! ..uufff!]

With this experience, I know more about the work of the geologist, and I loved it! is almost a way of life (as I mentioned before) and that motivates me!

[this is a "synclinal fold"]

I think geology is fundamental to the specialty that I want to continue, which is natural disasters, because now I know "how", "where" and maybe even "when" it can generate one of these unfortunate events. Having this knowledge, I can speak the same language of geologists and thus be able to generate better regional planning..

[They're my classmates! :)]

Saint Piter!! and around..

I think in these last four years my holidays have been very good, I really don't complain, since that I have met many beautiful places and nice people too. Therefore it's difficult to me choose just one, but well.. I selected from my memory the unforgettable and magical summer of the big north.

It was about two years ago when my sister, her boyfriend, a friend and I went to the San Pedro de Atacama, located in Antofagasta's second region.

That summer I had not worked on anything, so my budget was $25.000. Then I started making rings with my sister and the amount rose to 40,000. As it was not much, I decided to borrow from the Dadbank (never fails)jajaja!! =P

It was then that, with only $100,000 i survived two weeks and i took tours in San Pedro to the geysers, lagoons altiplanicas, the Salar de Atacama (the third largest in the world, I think) the valley of the moon and elsewhere more near.

I enjoyed it too much, was a truly rewarding experience.. In summary I witnessed the amazing landscapes our country has and I realized that we're privileged.

If you do not know these places, I recommend them!

Yavi de yav!

She is my best friend, her name is Javiera and she was my neighbor until about a week ago ..

I met to Javiera when i was only a couple of months. Happens that when her mother had to do paperwork, she talked to my mom to take care of her baby (Javi).. sometimes my mom also did it. So began our excursions.. from the "corral" (where grace it was to do contortions to get out of there, for crawl around the house ..). Then we grew and went to the same kindergarden, but on the choice of school, we parted. However, as we were neighbors, every day after school we played with dolls. In addition we were going on vacation to the beach together, so we really live together all year!

I have many stories with Javi, because we always went everywhere together. She is a very good person, she is worried about me and is so funny!!! She is always there to listen to me or for give me advice .. I think that i'm beginning to miss her in this moment, which is obvious.. because since I have memory she has been with me and now i will not see her so often. We're friends about 21 years ago!!!!

I love her a lot!! :D

G-graphy!

When I was at school I liked a lot of careers and I just knew that I didn't want to study: laws!!! i believe that be a lawyer should be very exciting, but when i think about studying a subject as: Roman law? noooo!! ..that clearly isn't for me and my short term memory..

It was then that one good day, I knew the geography career (I remember being in third year at high school). I heard about this through my sister, who was studying at that moment a subject about general geography (now, she's history and geography teacher). She told me: The geography is made for you!! because it has humanistic and scientific knowledge. Then I decided to see the curriculum mesh of the career.. it was love at first sight, I just fell in love with the mesh, because I always postponed the choice between scientist and humanist (both are essential for me)

The truth is that I'm always changing my decisions because, i'm very scattered in my thinking. Now I wonder: what would have been of me if I had studied music (for example)? I always liked the arts of all kinds. On the other hand, lately I've been very near to the physical geography and to be honest, I believe that geology as job as lifestyle it catches my attention. However, if I had studying only a part of everything right now.. I wouldn't have the overall approach that i have and guess that I know a little of everything by geography ..and that's what I always wanted!

The specialization that I want to follow is Natural Hazards, since I must ensure the integrity of people from a physical point of view which is what I like most about geography.

Field trip to Pichilemu..

.

Well, the purpose of going to there it was get data with respect to theme elected. In my case “The Pichilemu’s identity” so we decided to do surveys and interviews to capture the perspective of people in front of this issue. Our study area included interior villages that also belong to the Pichilemu’s commune, such as Los Ciruelos y Pañul. The most interesting part of the field trip for me occurred in Pañul, when we had to interview a local woman, who was a clay-artisan. She showed us her workshop and explained the process for make her art. In that moment I felt that we was a chapter of “Tierra Adentro” ajjaja.. I loved that experience!
I learnt that the identity is closely linked with territoriality, that while the administration-political limits try to join the relatively homogeneous areas, within these areas there are differences, so any policy to implement should take into account one crucial factor: SCALE!!
I believe that Pichilemu is a wonderful coastal town, but I wouldn't like to live there.. nor in the interior locations.

Vivi's Blog..

She’s Vivi and I'm going to talk about her blog..
Well, the design and color of viviana's blog are pleasant to view, and with title I imagine the texture that it should have if i touch it. Her blog doesn't have many posts, but for me it's very nice, the most of the atoms have picture or video.
The atom that struck me was “her free time” where she talk about how enjoys sleep and EMBROIDER :O!! (Vivi.. i never would have thought it!!)
About music..
Apparently our tastes are quite different in regard to music, because I don’t like “Depeche mode”, however, I liked phrase that she rescued from her favorite song, that says this: “Before you come to any conclusions, try walking in my shoes..”
I believe that, we share the love of music.. I infer it for her favourite piece of technology, that’s mp3 like me.

Vivi..
How could you forget to Conyyy, (during the earthquake)!??? =P!! and Polo, you saved it??!!

See you tomorrow in the beach!!!! :)

Everybody's fine!

*

This isn't the best movie i've seen, but it left me thinking a lot of things..
The movie is about of a widower Frank (Robert de Niro) who tired of invite to his sons to home (and that they reject invitation him) decides to catch a plane and make them a visit surprise. To find them, he confirms their suspicions: the things they are not as well as he wanted to believe.

I saw it with my parents about two weeks ago.. I remember that after the movie ended my parents looked at me like, "Don't tell me that you don't like geography," my mother told me: "I always wanted that you were a dentist" and my dad told me: "Do you have ever felt under pressure for us?" ..yes, my parents reflect in this sence.

I think the problem is very real, I like that. I believe the film reflects how we are embedded in the "system of appearances" leaving aside the transcendental, that is be happy.. no matter the job, we can’t always be what our parents want that us to be.. because maybe we stop being who we are.

What do you think about it?

Earthquake..

Well, my experience in the earthquake is null..
Happens that in this summer some friends and i went to the Elqui's valley for a few days and then we would go to others nearby places.. so that, on February 26 we travel to La Serena, for can take a bus that would leave us in Punta Choros, but we arrived too late.. so, we stayed at La Serena this night.
We were so tired that then of dinner, some went to sleep (including me) and others were drinking rum. I was in my fifth dream when Seba and Karina shouted us: is "shaking"! .. I got up but, it had ended.. for me it was almost imperceptible, but later the light went out!
At 6 am (approx) the Chora's mom called and said her that it had been an earthquake so strong in Santiago.. So we called our homes.. thank God, everyone was fine.
In my opinion, Chile wasn't prepared for a disaster of this size.. the manage was so bad, there were many faults in communication and information.. but, the chileans responded in a way that i never imagined.. solidarity, filled the hearts of who were well, to help those who not.

Mp4..

Something like "An Inconvenient Truth" is what happens to us now..
I sometimes think that while we're using technological devices there are coltan microparticles that adhere to our bodies without us noticing, they causing.. Technological Dependence!!! and is suspiciously contagious, do you not believe it? Ok ok!! This is not so.. the real explanation everybody know it... c-o-m-f-o-r-t!!

..worse, is that I'm part of it!

I can't live without my mp4!! The life should have music in every moment.. I love walk under the rain listening to music, when i ride a bike too, when I go around with my friends, when i laugh, when I cry... always!!

I remember that my parents gave it to me for my birthday, and the first time I used it I was happy! ajjajaj ..because it's very portable, very small.. Not like the “Walkman” that I had before with its pesky CDs.

When the battery runs out of my mp4, the time it takes me to go to university and back to my home is less happy, less dramatic.. The music always gives a plus to the situations that I live..

Mp4 is great!!

¿Sur o no Sur?

In this moment my favourite song is “Please, let me get what I want” by The Smiths, their style is "indie rock". I knew this song from a movie that I saw with Karina (my friend) on February, it called “500 days of Summer".
How often I hear this song? Mmm.. at least six times a week, I copied it on to my mp4, so depending of the occasion I listen to it more often or not. I love this song because is very short, it seems an old song, (well, the smiths were from 80s) and I like the lyrics.
Sometimes I think that its lyrics are like a threat, something like “let me be” or “you’ll have the worst of me”. However, I really believe that it talk about the frustrations.. and to be more specific, when you're in love.

Something as: Pescaaamee!!! xD jajjaja!!

Independent of the interpretation, i like it!

Well, I leave the song,
I hope you enjoy it..

*

Good times for a change
See, the luck I've had
Can make a good man
Turn bad

So please please please
Let me, let me, let me
Let me get what I want
This time

Haven't had a dream in a long time
See, the life I've had
Can make a good man bad

So for once in my life
Let me get what I want
Lord knows, it would be the first time
Lord knows, it would be the first time
C'est fini!
